Biography
A true up-and-comer, Vergi Rodriguez has captivated audiences with her innate ability to translate artistic expression into emotions. For, Vergi, being an artist is the way to express the intense rhythms of life itself.
Growing up as a young Dominican girl in Queens, New York, she knew what she wanted; she wanted to be a performer. At the age of seven, she began her path as her mother enrolled her in the Harlem Children's Theater Company when she soon starred in several off-Broadway musicals, singing, dancing and acting.
Soon her path led to the world-renowned New York City High School of the Performing Arts, the same school made famous by the movie and television show, Fame.
Upon graduating, Vergi immediately began to work in the Music industry as one of the most sought after choreographer and dancer.
Vergi secured a spot with the New Power Generation Dance Company (NPG). Landing in Minnesota, Vergi had the opportunity to work with Prince. It was during rehearsals at the world famous Paisley Park Studios that Vergi was asked by Los Angeles choreography duo Nightmare Creations, to input some of her own choreography into the NPG show. After touring parts of the Midwest, Vergi decided it was time to head for Hollywood.
Vergi has appeared as a dancer on ABC's "Dancing With The Stars" and in music videos, international tours and award shows with Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Missy Elliott, Limp Bizkit, P.Diddy, Mario Winans, Jordan Knight, Meshell N'DeGecello and B2K amongst others.Her latest credit to date has been choreographing on "America's Got Talent".
In addition, Vergi choreographed for Whitney Houston at the Soul Train Awards. She has toured Australia, Africa, Europe, The Middle East and the United States of America with Shaggy. She was offered the opportunity to become Assistant Choreographer on the Universal film "Honey", which starred Mekai Pheifer and Jessica Alba.
Vergi Rodriguez received her first film credit as the choreographer of "Soul Plane", a film from MGM and starring Tom Arnold and D.L. Hughley. A natural, Vergi balanced her busy schedule with acting parts as well. She has appeared in Disney's featured comedy "The Hot Chick", as well as appearing on MTV's "Scratch and Burn".
Vergi has also made her stance known in the Latin music industry by choreographing for Reggaeton artist Don Omar's music video Conteo which was featured off of The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift soundtrack. She also choreographed the music video "Te Invitan Al Party" featuring L.D.A. & Zion & Lennoxx. Which was off of Chosen Few II : El Documental album .
